WE NEED YOUR HELP TO GET A STOP SIGN ON OCEAN AVENUE!

JOIN THE CAUSE AND SIGN THE PETITION NOW! CLICK HERE TO SIGN

For about 20 years, Rolling River has been asking state, county, Town of Hempstead, and East Rockaway Village officials for a 4-way stop sign at the intersection of Ocean Avenue and Ryder Place. In fact, Rolling River families have been asking us why there are no stop signs at this dangerous intersection and our answer is simple: our politicians and officials at all four levels of government do not care about the safety of the children & families in their communities.

In 2001, twelve County, Town, & Village officials met with us at Ocean Avenue & Ryder Place and told us that if we moved our exit 30 feet to face Ryder Place at our own expense of $22,000, we would get the four stop signs. We did what they asked and they reneged on this promise. Unfortunately, action does not occur often until someone is killed or seriously hurt. WE NOW NEED YOUR HELP BEFORE someone loses their life. We are asking you to reach out to all of your representatives & officials and demand a safe intersection for ALL individuals who need to cross Ocean Avenue & Ryder Place. We all need to tell these elected leaders that if they cannot protect our children, then we will work energetically to vote them out of office and find leaders who will work to correct this unsafe situation for the people in our communities.

Click here for the latest letter of over 100 correspondences we have written to officials regarding this issue over the years. You will see the emails of many of the elected leaders. If you wish to forward this email or attach this letter to any other leader who you feel can help resolve this situation, please do so.

THE TIME IS NOW. With a huge self-storage property being constructed next to Rolling River, this situation will only get worse. Let’s band together to get these stop signs NOW to slow down the trucks, cars, bicycles, and other vehicles who speed down Ocean Avenue without any regard for someone else’s well-being.

We know that Rolling River families & alumni can get this done. Please give this your immediate attention. We have our next trip of 220 Rolling River campers and staff off to Mountain Creek Water Park next Tuesday, August 8th, when we can all get a reminder of how much safer it would be on Ocean Avenue if we had a 4 way stop sign to protect our families.

Thank you for your continued support. We greatly appreciate your efforts throughout the years as we complete our terrific 25th anniversary season.

Rhonda, Mark, and the Rolling River Crew
