Skipper Scoop

Skippers had an exciting week at camp! We welcomed new 2-week Waverunners on Monday with open arms – we are so happy you are here to join us for our last weeks of camp. On Monday, the whole camp broke into Blue Monopoly and White Candy Land teams for Color War. Skippers participated in many Color War competitions  such as the Spotshot basketball tournament and Skipper relay races. We also came to camp dressed up each day wearing blue or white and showing off our Color War spirit! We loved seeing each other’s creative costumes. On Thursday afternoon, we had our own Color War Bucket Brigade: we lined up on the basketball court in teams of blue or white and passed cups of water down the line to pour into a bucket until it spilled over. We had so much fun playing with the water and cheering for our teammates!

Can’t wait to “sea” you all for our last full week of camp!

Mariner Messages

The action and excitement have reached all-time highs here at the RIVA this week! We broke Color War 2016 Monday morning after welcoming Waverunners to camp for the last two weeks. Mariners quickly got into the Color War spirit by participating in many different competitions and activities throughout the week such as Musical Chairs, Penny Pick-Up, the Apache Relay, Bucket Brigade and Rope Burn. We also practiced for today’s incredible SING competition. An enormous “Thank You” goes out to our incredible Mariner counselors, who worked tirelessly to help Color War run smoothly, participated with enthusiasm, and supported our campers by modeling good sportsmanship and friendly competition.

In addition to Color War, Third and Fourth Grade girls wowed their families and friends with a fantastic “Broadway Bound” show on Monday night in the Auditorium. Kudos to our campers and their counselors for their hard work and a job well done! First graders also visited 5 Star Gymnastics on Tuesday for some bouncing and balancing fun with friends.

We can’t wait to come back Monday morning and begin our last full week of camp reunited as one. Mariners are going on lots of fun trips next week. Make sure you check the itinerary for the list of trips.

Have a great weekend,

Fran Oosterom
Mariner Supervisor

Navigator Notes

It’s been another great week down at the RIVA! This week we got to show our competitive side for Color War! We did tug-of-war at Long Beach on Tuesday. On Wednesday, we cheered each other on during the Apache Relay. Thursday brought an eventful Bucket Brigade and Rope Burn. Both teams have been practicing for the finale – Color War Sing – all week. We can’t wait for the last full week of camp with some great trips like Dave & Busters!

“Sea” ya next week!

CIT FYI

The CITs had an amazing week at Rolling River. On Monday, we were so excited to start the best week of camp – Color War! Tuesday, we went to IT Ropes Course and couldn’t have had a better time. Wednesday and Thursday, CITs could be seen all over camp participating in Color War activities like CIT Tug-of-War and preparing for SING. On Friday, we played in a CIT basketball tournament. Next week, we reunite and can’t wait to go to Splish Splash on Tuesday. We can’t believe it’s our last full week!
