REMINDER: CARNIVAL IS NOW ON MONDAY, JULY 31st

Skipper Scoop

It’s hard to believe the first four weeks of camp have come to an end. We are very proud of our Skippers for trying so many new activities!

On Monday, we sang and danced the rain away as Rhonda played the guitar in Puppetry. On Tuesday, we welcomed everyone to the Hockey Rink for a special “Fire Safety Day” on-campus event! On Wednesday, we waved goodbye to our Half Season 1 friends. We can’t wait to “sea” you all again next summer! Thursday welcomed our Half Season 2 campers as we explored the playgrounds, played with our animal friends at Nature, jumped in the pool, and visited specialties like Arts & Crafts and Puppetry.

We can’t wait for next week-especially the Carnival on Monday! Don’t forget: Monday is also Picture Day 2 for campers who were absent, Half Season 2 campers, and siblings. Please send anyone taking a photo to camp in a clean white non-altered (no cuts or tie-dye) camp shirt.

Have a wonderful weekend,
Jill Bloom
Skipper Supervisor

Mariner Messages

We had a wonderful fifth week here at the RIVA! First, third, and fourth graders traveled off-campus for exciting trips this week – first graders stretched and balanced at 5 Star Gymnastics while third graders played laser tag & other games at @Play Amusements & fourth graders bounced around at Bounce! Trampoline.  Mariners also got into the competitive spirit during Intramurals this week as they worked on different physical skills on the courts and fields. We all splashed and played in the pool.

Next week brings CARNIVAL and Picture Day 2 for Half Season 2 campers, campers who were absent on Picture Day 1, and siblings. We also celebrate RRDC Gives Back Week with a Swirls & Twirls fundraiser Monday night and our annual week-long Coin Harvest. Third and fourth graders depart on their optional overnight to Club Getaway for a once-in-a-lifetime experience, too!

We wish all our Half Season 1 campers a terrific summer and look forward to “sea”ing you all again soon. We welcome all our Half Season 2 campers to the RIVA  – we are so happy that you’re here!

Have a great weekend!

Fran & Lonny

Navigator Notes

It’s week 5 and we love it here at the RIVA! There is so much to do each week from Intramurals to Hobbies to awesome trips, too. This week, we went to the Bronx Zoo and Dave & Buster’s. The Half Session 2 Navigators joined in the fun when they arrived on Thursday. We can’t wait for next week, when Carnival Day arrives and we all go off-campus on Mystery Trips! We love Rolling River!

KUDOS to Brooke Seidman for winning the Kayak race today!

CIT FYI

This week, we went to Adventure Park LI! We had so much fun going on the ziplines and doing the obstacle courses! We also had our first After Camp CIT Party! Some things we are looking forward to are Carnival on Monday and SkyZone on Thursday. We can’t believe half of the summer is already gone. It’s going by so fast. Here are a few of the CITs’ highlights:

Travis F. (CIT – B11) loved the ziplines at Adventure Park
Rachel B. (CIT-G11) can’t wait for SkyZone
Greg D. (CIT Athletics) loves working with Lil Athletes

We are looking forward to the second half of Summer 2017!
