Skipper Scoop

What a wonderful 6th week we had down at the RIVA! We kicked off RRDC Gives Back Week by collecting everyone’s loose change and meeting up at Swirls & Twirls for a delicious frozen yogurt fundraiser to help raise money for our CampMates program and the Ronald McDonald House. Thanks to all who donated to these worthy causes!

Also this week, N1, N3, N7, & N8 were treated to a yummy breakfast while we sang songs and read a story. Ask us about these fun activities, too:

  • Singing “There Was An Old Woman Who Swallowed a Fly” at Puppetry
  • Crafting our own picture frames and photo albums at Skipper A&C
  • Strengthening our throwing and running skills on Skipper Field
  • Visiting the duck at Nature

Have a wonderful weekend,
Jill Bloom
Skipper Supervisor

Mariner Messages

Mariners had an amazing 6th week! RRDC Gives Back Week was a HUGE success thanks to all of you for participating in our annual Coin Harvest and Swirls & Twirls fundraiser. We are so proud of our campers and their families for their efforts in giving back to our community. Congrats to the B7 Mussels for having the most campers in attendance at Swirls & Twirls!

Many of our 3rd & 4th graders also traveled to Connecticut this week for a unique overnight opportunity at Club Getaway. From zip-lining to swimming in the lake to an obstacle course, our campers had the opportunity to challenge themselves and learn just how brave and determined they are. Other 3rd & 4th graders traveled to Broadway to see “Charlie & the Chocolate Factory” and really loved the show.

1st and 2nd graders also had a wonderful week. First graders participated in a fierce Gaga tournament and 2nd graders traveled to 5 Star Gymnastics to bounce around, play, and stretch. We also played hard during Intramurals and sports, enjoyed Boating, Nature, Arts & Crafts, and of course, cooling off in the pool.

We are very excited for next week – it’s TRIP WEEK here at the RIVA and everyone is off on fabulous trips. One last question we all want to know: WHEN WILL COLOR WAR BREAK?! Only time will tell!

Have a great weekend!
Fran & Lonny

Navigator Notes

G12 campers discuss their favorite moments from this week:

Julia: The Broadway show was fun because I’m going to be in the Rolling River play of “Charlie & the Chocolate Factory”. So now I know how to play my character.

Tali: I thought “Wonderama” was really exciting! There were so many surprises and fun things to do!

Rebecca: I loved dancing on “Wonderama” because we challenged people to a dance-off and we didn’t know what was going to happen next.

Olivia: My favorite thing was Monster Mini-Golf because I got over my fear of scary statues.

Gillian: My favorite thing was “Wonderama” because I played “Circle of Pies” and I got pied in the face and won a prize. I am excited that I am going to be on TV!

Reese: My favorite trip was Monster Mini Golf because I have never been to a place with glow-in-the-dark and Halloween-themed mini golf.

Blake: I liked the inflatable pool obstacle courses on Carnival Day. It was fun to run through them.

Ariana: I liked the Broadway show because it was very funny. I love that Charlie was determined to find the golden ticket and his grandpa inspired him to never give up!

CIT FYI

This week, the CITs went on their annual community service trips to the Ronald McDonald House. We made beautiful picture frames and tasty desserts for the families and children staying there. Later this week, the CITs played in an intense Gaga tournament where we competed to find a winner. On Thursday, we went to SkyZone, where we bounced around and played dodgeball and basketball. We’re having a great summer and we can’t wait for COLOR WAR!
