We hope this message finds you and your family well and safe. Since the White House released its “Opening Up America Plan”, we have received an abundance of emails from families who are interested in enrolling for camp but had questions about the process and policies during this complicated time. We wanted to answer these questions to the best of our ability right now and provide you with two different options for enrollment if you are interested.
What’s the Plan for Summer Camps in General?
Even though the last few weeks have been challenging, we are happy to say that we are continuing to plan for Summer 2020. We have heard positive feedback from Federal and State Government officials about prioritizing summer programs as a “Phase 2” childcare business. The CDC has said that camps should be considered “essential businesses” as they are necessary to enable society as a whole to return to work as well as provide children with a sense of normalcy.
How Will Rolling River Be Affected?
Right now, we are set to open as planned on Monday, June 29 with the appropriate procedures recommended by health officials. In the coming weeks, the American Camp Association, along with the CDC, will be publishing guidelines for the safe operation of camp this summer. The health and safety of our campers is our number one priority and we feel confident that if health officials are giving us the “green light” to operate, then the camp environment is safe with the proper protocols.
Once we receive the regulations, we plan to send out a comprehensive explanation on how we are adapting these recommendations into the Rolling River community. Additionally, if there are any imposed season changes from health officials, there will be opportunities for full credits towards Summer 2021 as well as refunds.
What Are My Enrollment Options If I Want To Move Forward?
We are offering families two options for Summer 2020 at this time:
- Guaranteed Enrollment- If you want to confirm you have a spot for your child this summer in their age group, complete the online application and provide only the first deposit of $600 via debit card, credit card or mail in a check. While there would normally be 3 payments of $600 due at this time ($1,800), we would only need the deposit until our office receives clearance to open.
- Waitlist- If you are still uncertain of your plans for the summer, we are providing the option to place your child on a waitlist by completing the online application and selecting “waitlist” as the billing option. No deposit is needed. Once the Camp Office re-opens, we will contact you in the order of the waitlist by age group and gender to confirm availability. This will not guarantee enrollment but will give you priority in date order by age group. Note that due to high enrollment numbers prior to the pandemic, it’s possible an age/gender group may close out even if you are high on the list.
