Captain's Log: August 14, 2015

August 14, 2015

After cheering for our favorite knight to win an incredible jousting tournament on horseback last Friday, we were ready for one last battle. Rushing the field were our Color War leaders, the Blue Avengers and White Jedi, who fought the first Color War battle of 2015 by competing in an inflatable gladiator bout. Throughout the week, the teams showed their spirit in activities like tug-of-war, Bucket Brigade, Rope Burn, Penny Pickup in the pool, and the Apache Relay. Navigators and Mariners also participated in special Color War competitions like “Don’t Forget the Lyrics.” Despite Tuesday’s stormy weather, CITs enjoyed an after-camp party and then escaped Wednesday’s Color War excitement for a trip to Air Trampoline Bounce Park while Navigators knocked down pins at the bowling alley. As we go to press, the Color War winner is still unknown, as Color War Sing took place late this afternoon. Good luck to both teams!!! Check your e-Scuttle and our Facebook page to find out the winner – there will be NO TIE this year. Who will claim the trophy to win Rolling River’s 23rd Color War Competition?!

Next week, RRDC campers and staff will reunite for TRIP WEEK, and sadly, our last day of camp on Thursday August 20th. Alumni families have until August 26th to enroll at the Early Bird and Alumni rates to save hundreds of dollars per child for a full-season program! Get ready for a great last week of Summer 2015! We miss you already!
