Division News: Camp 2015 Week 4
Skipper Scoop
The Skippers had such an exciting week at camp!
Skipper Breakfast continued with more groups eating a yummy breakfast together with Assistant Supervisor Ali and me. Two fun puppet friends Rolling River Ron and Rhonda made a guest appearance at breakfast to say hello! On Wednesday, Kindergarteners traveled to Bounce U, where they leaped and climbed with their friends!
Thursday brought a special on-campus “Road Trip” for the entire Skipper Division! Kindergarteners participated in a Scavenger Hunt, following the clues around camp to finally end at Pebble Playground, where they each received a transportation-themed pencil and eraser. Toddler, Nursery, and Pre-K groups traveled to six different “states” in the Hockey Rink: in Hawaii, we did the hula and limbo and everyone received a beautiful flower lei; in South Dakota, we visited Mt. Rushmore and took a fun photo; in New Orleans, Louisiana, we colored Mardi Gras masks; in Texas, we made delicious licorice and Froot Loop lassos; in California, we decorated a beach scene with fun stickers; and in New York, we colored our very own Road Trip license plates. We had SO much fun on our travels around the USA!
On Friday, we were CAMPLIFIED, as we enjoyed carnival activities and games, and we rocked out to fun music. We represented generations of music as we came to camp ready to rock out in different music and concert tees! We love to dance and sing!
It has been so much fun to play with our friends these first four weeks of camp! We say goodbye and can’t wait to “sea” you all next summer! On Monday, we welcome new Skippers for the second four weeks, and we look forward to playing and learning together this summer!
We hope everyone has a great weekend! “Sea” you next week!

Mariner Messages
We had a really great week at camp! We enjoyed playing competitive rounds of 6-3-1 and Family Feud during morning line-up in the hockey rink. Campers traveled to 5 Star Gymnastics, Adventureland, and the LI Children’s Museum for fun times with friends, and first graders were treated to a Hawaiian luau, complete with the hula, limbo, hula hoops, and a dance party led by our fantastic head counselor Jaison Coles! On Friday, we were CAMPLIFIED and we loved meeting and listening to amazing teen music sensations Rachel Fox, DJ Kai Song, and the Brady Brothers!
Next week, we welcome our second four-weekers into the marvelous Mariner division! We have much to look forward to, including Roller Skating in the Hockey Rink next Tuesday! Don’t forget to bring your own skates and safety gear. As always, this activity is optional and any Mariners who do not want to skate will follow a regular schedule. Next Thursday evening brings the first of the Mariner shows: our wonderful first graders will be performing for their families in the Auditorium! Please see the itinerary included in this week’s Scuttlebutt for more info on the 1st Grade Show.
We are all eagerly anticipating next Friday: CARNIVAL! Easily the best day of the summer, campers enjoy bounce houses, water rides, games, cotton candy and more! We can’t wait!
Each week, I will be posting a trivia question. E-mail me at [email protected] with your responses. The camper(s) with the correct answer will win a prize!
This week’s question: What is my middle name? Hint: It has five letters! Good luck!
We sadly say goodbye today to our first four-week campers – we hope you had a TERRIFIC month at camp, and we wish you all the best during the 2015-2016 school year. We hope to “sea” you next summer back at the RIVA for more fun and adventures with camp friends new and old.
Wishing everyone a relaxing and fun-filled weekend,
Fran

Navigator Notes
Navigators had such a busy, fun-filled fourth week! On Tuesday, many Navigators set off bright and early for an action-packed overnight adventure that included stops at Hershey Park, Dorney Park/Wlidwater Kingdom, Indian Echo Caverns, and Adventure Sports. It was so much fun to go on all the rides and roller coasters, play games and win prizes, and hang out together on this 3-day adventure.
Meanwhile, Navigators who did not go on the overnight had a terrific week on many different day trips! Tuesday took them to Monster Mini-Golf, an amazing indoor, glow-in-the dark experience the kids loved! On Wednesday, 7th and 8th graders enjoyed an afternoon of bowling, and on Thursday, everyone ventured out on the high seas for a fishing trip! The weather was perfect, the fish were biting, and everyone reeled in a catch!
Friday was our best day yet! Navigators reunited at camp in their favorite music and concert tees to celebrate as the RIVA became an all-day music festival! We learned how to DJ, met talented teen sensations Rachel Fox, DJ Kai Song, and the Brady Brothers, and rocked out at the Camplified Concert!
We tearfully say goodbye to our first four-week campers. We had so much fun these first four weeks with you! We hope you had a great time, and we can’t wait to see you again down by the RIVA next summer!
On Monday, we welcome our second-half Navigators and we’re also ready for WATERMELON LEAGUE, our one-day after camp sports league on Monday after camp from 4-6:30 pm! Don’t forget to reserve your spot online through your Camp InTouch account if you haven’t already!
We are already looking forward to our Mountain Creek water park trip next Tuesday!
I hope everyone has a terrific weekend!

CIT FYI
The CITs kicked off the week by taking the train to NYC to tour Radio City Music Hall. We saw the beautiful stage and even met a Rockette! On Tuesday, a handful of CITs hit the road for Hershey Park and Dorney Park. A fun Wednesday for CITs included basketball and swimming. On Thursday, Skipper groups enjoyed the Rolling River “Road Trip” and 1st Grade had fun at a luau with their CITs. On Friday, we completed our fun-filled week with talented upcoming artists who put on an amazing show when Rolling River was CAMPLIFIED. We especially loved our interview with actress/musician Rachel Fox! We will miss our first 4 week CITs!! We can’t wait to have a blast for the rest of the summer when we welcome our 2nd half CITs on Monday!
