Division News: Camp 2016 Week 1

July 1, 2016

Skipper Scoop

Smiles and laughs abounded in the Skipper Division this week, as we got off to a great start to the summer. The Skippers are trying lots of new things and meeting new friends. We love swimming in the pool, playing on the field and making cool new projects! We can’t wait to show off all the new skills we are learning at camp, and we are looking forward to a fun-filled summer.

Have a terrific holiday weekend and happy Fourth of July!

Mariner Messages

Summer 2016 got off to an amazing start for the Mariner Division! We are so thrilled to be back at camp with our buddies from last summer and meeting new friends too. A huge “thank you” to all our counselors and parents for helping us sail so smoothly these first two days. We loved showing off our American History knowledge for Uncle Sam and Lady Liberty and wearing patriotic colors for Red, White, and Blue Day today. Each week, Mariners participate in a Crazy Eights Trivia Game. Check back each week to find out which group has the most trivia knowledge. Congrats to G10, who have taken an early lead. A special congratulations also go out to G10’s CIT, Hallie Neufeld. She showed the most patriotic spirit on Red, White, and Blue Day and won her group a special treat. We are already looking ahead to a fantastic week filled with swimming, sports, hobbies, and more when we return to camp on Tuesday. Have a happy and safe Fourth of July weekend!

Navigator Notes

Welcome back to camp, Navigators! We are already back at the RIVA for another summer of fun! It was so nice to reunite with the camp friends we waited all year to see. We are so happy that we got to celebrate Independence Day weekend here at camp and it was cool to see such an enormous amount of red, white, and blue spirit throughout the day. We had so much fun doing the relay races with the whole division and we can’t wait to come back after a long weekend off. We hope that everyone will enjoy this summer like we are about to do!

CIT FYI

Being a CIT here at RRDC is a great experience for any 9th or 10th grader. It is great to mentor the campers and watch them mature over the 8 weeks while at the same time, having a lot of fun. We have learned a lot from being a CIT here. Being a part of RRDC, we live 10 months for 2! We can’t wait to go on so many fun trips, starting with visiting the Empire State Building Tuesday!
