Skipper Scoop

The Skippers had a terrific second week at Rolling River! We are trying lots of new activities, learning new games, and creating beautiful projects, too. Here are just a few of the awesome things Skippers did this week: We can’t wait to see what fun SPIRIT WEEK has in store for us! Have a terrific weekend, Jill Bloom Skipper Supervisor

Mariner Messages

Dear Mom and Dad, We are having an amazing time down at the RIVA! This week, we participated in so many activities. Morning lineup is full of surprises when we get to play fun games, answer trivia questions, and cheer for our counselors when they are awarded Big Fish. We met Charger the tortoise at Nature, learned the multibox stitch at Loading Dock, and started Intramurals, too. The competition was fierce, but we showed off our athletic skills in Gaga, Spotshot basketball, beach volleyball, softball, and soccer. Did you know we are practicing to pass the deep water and dock tests? It’s so exciting because we’ll get to swim in the deep end of the pool and ride the waves on banana boats! On Wednesday, we smiled and waved during Picture & Video Day. We can’t wait to show you all our new friends in our group photos. We also explored Active Kids, climbing and sliding and trying out laser tag, too. The best part of our week had to be STOMP! Day! We saw an Industrial Rhythm show and learned how to create our own rhythms and make music with different objects. We can’t wait for Spirit Week, especially when “World’s Greatest” comes to camp next Wednesday to film us for their TV show! We will be famous! Thanks for sending us to camp! We hope summer lasts forever. Love, Fran and Lonny

Navigator Notes

Navigators had an awesome week! We went on our first trips this week, going to Hot Skates and Long Beach. Intramurals started this week, too, and the teams are off to a fierce start. On Friday morning, we came in dressed up as our favorite rock stars and then went to the movies to escape the rain. Friday afternoon, we loved watching the Industrial Rhythm show! We can’t wait for next week’s trips to Brownstone Park and the LI Lizards game, and to strut our stuff for the cameras when “World’s Greatest” comes to camp! by Navigator Special Reporters Samantha Reyer and Kayla Velasquez

CIT FYI

This was an eventful week for all of Rolling River, from campers to counselors. On Monday, CITs took our first trip. We went to Dave & Buster’s. We played arcade games and won lots of tickets. We used our tickets to get prizes and food, too. On Tuesday, we were off for the 4th of July a.k.a. America’s 241st birthday! We all came back on Wednesday refreshed and happy. Thursday was our CIT NYC Mystery Trip! We went to Modern Pinball NYC and ate some pretty good pizza. Friday was our musical STOMP! day! We came in wearing shirts representing our favorite artists. Carly wore Billy Joel and Alex wore a Pink Floyd tee. Since the weather was rainy, we had fun inside and watched movies with our campers. We can’t wait for all the fun the rest of the summer will bring! by CIT Special Reporters Carly Schuster and Alex Risi
