Skipper Scoop

The Skippers had a terrific first week at Rolling River! We are trying lots of new activities, learning new games, and creating beautiful projects, too. Here are just a few of the awesome things Skippers did this week:

  • At Loading Dock, we made red, white, and blue beaded necklaces.
  • At Skipper Arts and Crafts, Nursery groups decorated 4th of July tin pails, Pre-K groups made red, white, and blue star squishies, and K groups decorated USA water bottle holders.
  • We are all having so much fun in the pool, blowing bubbles, dunking our heads and splashing with our friends!

Don’t forget to label everything that comes to camp each day. Please make sure to put sunscreen on your campers BEFORE they leave for camp each morning.

We can’t wait to see what fun SPIRIT WEEK has in store for us!

Have a terrific weekend,
Jill Bloom
Skipper Supervisor

Mariner Messages

Dear Mom and Dad,

We are having an amazing time down at the RIVA! This week, we participated in so many activities. Morning lineup is full of surprises when we get to play fun games, answer trivia questions to win Lonny Dollars and Fran Dough, and cheer for our counselors when they are awarded Big Fish. We learned about the iguana at Nature, and made many different projects at Arts & Crafts. We played a lot of sports, too. The competition was fierce, and we showed off our athletic prowess in Gaga, basketball, beach volleyball, softball, and soccer. Did you know we are practicing to pass the deep water and dock tests? It’s so exciting because we’ll get to swim in the deep end of the pool and ride the waves on banana boats and “Corcls”!  Fourth graders had a blast at Bounce! Trampoline, too. Don’t forget to apply our sunscreen each morning before camp.

Here’s our Mariner Joke of the Week…

What did the very first American flag say to the very first American flag pole?
Nothing, silly … it just waved!

We can’t wait for next Thursday – we’ll get to roll around the Hockey Rink for a special On-Campus roller skating activity. We’ll have to bring our own helmets, skates, and safety equipment to camp for this optional activity.

Thanks for sending us to camp! We hope summer lasts forever.

Love,
Fran and Lonny

Navigator Notes

Hello ladies and gentlemen! Our names are Zachary Fata and Emily Artusa. We’re here to tell you what’s going on at Rolling River Day Camp. We’re going to tell you about the trips that we went on. The first trip was to Bayville Adventure Park. Bayville Adventure Park had so many things to do! There was a water ride, an ice cream store, a funhouse, and a maze. Our second trip was to Maple Lanes Bowling Alley. That trip was fun. We’re having a blast at camp!

CIT FYI

During the first week of camp, the CITs took a trip to Adventure Park LI, where they completed a fun series of rope courses. They also showed their red, white, and blue spirit and decorated 4th of July rice krispie treats at Cooking. The CITs are having a great time getting to know the campers and helping them during this fun first week of camp!
