Staff Leadership Update

March 5, 2026
NEW PROGRAM AND NAVIGATOR SUPER VISORS FOR ROLLING RIVER DAY CAMP ON LONG ISLAND IN NASSAU COUNTY

At Rolling River, we take great pride in the strength and longevity of our leadership team. As our camp continues to grow and evolve, we are always focused on building upon the strong foundation that has made Rolling River such a special place for generations of campers and staff.

After many incredible years of dedication to Rolling River, we are both happy for him and a bit sad to share that Trip Supervisor Jim Long will be retiring from camp. Jim has been a valued member of our leadership team and has played an important role in creating memorable travel experiences for our campers. We thank Jim for his many years of commitment and the impact he has made on the Rolling River community.

Program Supervisor

As part of this transition, we are excited to announce that Anthony Bruno will be stepping into an expanded role as Program Supervisor. Anthony will continue his outstanding work creating and managing the daily camp schedules while also overseeing our entire travel program, including coordinating tickets, transportation, and trip logistics. He will remain very involved with the Navigator Division trips and will also assist with the execution of our camp-wide special events.

Anthony has been a member of the Rolling River Crew for 24 years. Outside of camp, he serves as a Social Studies Teacher, Dean, and Trip Coordinator with the NYC Department of Education at Robert F. Kennedy IS 250. Anthony brings tremendous organizational skill and experience to this role, and we are excited for him to take on this expanded leadership position. He is also the proud father of a 2-year-old daughter.

Navigator Supervisor

We are equally thrilled to announce that Jon Berghorn will be stepping into the role of Navigator Division Supervisor.

Jon has been part of the Rolling River family for 20 years, working in both the Mariner and Navigator Divisions as a Head Counselor and most recently serving as the Navigator Assistant Supervisor. During the school year, Jon is a Lead Science and STEM Teacher at Alexander Graham Bell School (PS 205) with the NYC Department of Education.

In his new role, Jon will oversee the Navigator Division campers, staff, and daily activities. He will serve as the primary point of contact for Navigator families while mentoring and leading our talented team of counselors. Jon also brings a unique perspective as a camp parent. He currently has two children at Rolling River, including one in the Navigator Division. He is incredibly excited to step into this leadership role for such an outstanding group of campers and staff.
