The Captain's Log: July 10, 2015

July 10, 2015

Ahoy, RRDC families!

What an exciting Spirit Week! There was no time for a “siesta” during our Monday in Mexico fiesta, which was filled with sombreros, bright colors, and Mexican music! On Tourist Tuesday, campers showed off their adventurous spirit with t-shirts and accessories from around the globe, and Kindergarteners bounced around at 5 Star Gymnastics. Mariners glided gracefully around the hockey rink during our first on-campus roller skating session. Navigators and CITs made waves at Splish Splash water park. Everyone smiled Wednesday for Picture & Video Day.  Third Graders got moving at Active Kidz, and 7th & 8th Graders displayed their fancy footwork at Hot Skates. We topped off the fun with our annual “Sweet Treat” fundraiser at Swirls & Twirls in Oceanside. Tank Top Thursday gave our campers a chance to show off their best and brightest tank tops. Fourth Graders took to the skies at the Cradle of Aviation museum, Fifth Graders putted on the green at mini-golf, and Sixth, Seventh & Eighth Graders enjoyed a day by the sea in Long Beach.

We celebrated the grand finale of Spirit Week at today’s Song and Plaque Day. Each group sang a unique song and presented a group plaque. Everyone did an amazing job showing their camp pride and getting into the spirit of summer camp. Get ready to make family memories next week as Visiting Days and Nights begin! Anchors Aweigh!
