The Captain's Log: July 2, 2015
Ahoy, RRDC families!
Camp kicked off with plenty of sunshine and smiles as each camper arrived, excited to see old friends and meet new ones, too.
Navigators and CITs hit the road for their first trips of the season. The Navigators experienced the excitement of the Country Fair amusement park and the bowling alley, and the CITs enjoyed a team-building trip at Nassau BOCES Brookville.
We ended a terrific first week with our annual Red, White, & Blue Day celebration. Patriotic campers rocked red, white, and blue colors. Uncle Sam and Lady Liberty made a special appearance to hand out prizes to campers who correctly answered American history trivia questions. Skippers celebrated Independence Day with a fun-filled music show and the Mariners and Navigators enjoyed wacky relay races.
Monday kicks off our annual Spirit Week, with special themes and activities each day (see back for list of events). Picture Day is Wednesday, July 8th; please send your campers in new white (or CIT yellow) unaltered camp t-shirts. Thanks to all for your patience this week as our buses begin their summer pick-ups and drop-offs. Check the website and Facebook for daily photos from camp.
We wish everyone a very happy Independence Day. Relax and get ready for Spirit Week!
