The Captain's Log: July 24, 2015
Ahoy mateys!
Family Visits concluded this week with 1st grade boys and 3rd grade girls gathering together Monday evening to share their love of camp with their families. On Tuesday, our youngest campers & their families played together on Skipper Field and at Tumbling Tides & then the Skippers showcased their new pool skills. Thanks to all our families for participating & making these visits so special!
On Monday morning, we helped kick off News 12’s “Erin Goes to Camp” week by giving LI viewers a sneak peek into a day at the RIVA. Thank you to everyone who came to camp so early to participate! You can view the entire segment on our YouTube page! Also, 1st Graders bounced at 5 Star Gymnastics & the CITs toured historic Radio City Music Hall. On Tuesday, we waved goodbye as many Navigators and CITs set off on an amazing 3-day trip to Hershey & Dorney Park, while other Navigators enjoyed Monster Mini-Golf & 4th Graders had a blast at Adventureland. On Wednesday, Kindergartners jumped high at 5 Star Gym, and grades 7 & 8 bowled lucky strikes at the bowling alley. The action continued on Thursday with Navigators sailing the high seas on a fishing trip and 2nd graders exploring the LI Children’s Museum. On Friday, we were CAMPLIFIED! Camp was transformed into an all-day music festival, complete with giveaways, a DJ booth and turntable tutorial, and interactive activities and performances by special guest stars Rachel Fox, DJ Kai Song, and the Brady Brothers!
Although we are sad to say goodbye to our 1st 4-week campers, we welcome the 2nd 4-weekers with open arms on Monday. Next Thursday brings our much-anticipated 1st grade evening show. We can’t wait to see you in the theater!
Anchors aweigh!
