We are so excited to once again host Meet Your Mateys Day in person on June 19! Every year, Meet Your Mateys Day brings excitement to our families and of course some nerves come with it too. To help ensure that the day goes well for you and your camper(s), here are some of our frequently asked questions about the day. See below to view the official schedule separated by division and group. Each session will last for one hour.

Q: Where do I bring my child when we get to camp?

A: Each division has a designated meeting spot where you and your camper will be greeted by their counselors and division leader for the summer.

Our Skipper families will first meet on Skipper Field for a group meet and greet and counselor introductions.  Then the campers will move to Sand Playground to play with the other kids in their group and their counselors.  At this time, parents will meet with Divisional Supervisor Jill at the Softball Bleachers to learn more about the program and ask any lingering questions.

Our Mariner families will meet in the Hockey Rink. Then the kids and their counselors will tour camp and play ice breaker games to get to know each other.  All parents will stay in the hockey rink to talk to their division leaders for the summer, Fran and Lonny, and learn what to expect in the Mariner Division.

Our Navigator families will meet on the basketball courts. These campers will either stay on the courts with their counselors or go participate in an activity. At this point, the Navigator Supervisor, Anthony, will take parents up to the Multi-Porpoise Room and go over expectations and trips for all of our Navigator campers.

Q: I ordered shirts, where do I pick them up?

A: Any regular camp t-shirts will be available for pick-up in the Cafeteria (located on the bottom floor of the Main Building). If you ordered any tie-dye shirts, mask chains, or anything else from our apparel store, those will be available for pick-up under the Main Tent.

Q: What should I bring for my camper?

A: Every camper should come with two bathing suits, sunscreen, goggles and a sweatshirt in a bag that will be put in their cabana or locker room. Everything will stay there for the summer except for the bathing suits. All bathing suits will be sent home every Friday, and every Monday campers should come in with two more bathing suits for the week. Everything should be clearly labeled with your child’s name and group number on it!  You can purchase stick on labels through “Oliver’s Labels”- the link can be found on your Camp In Touch account.

Our Skipper campers need a few extra essential items.  All skippers should bring a change of clothes and closed toe swim shoes (check out our last blog post “Top 8 Camp Must Haves!” to see which swim shoes are our favorites). All of our Nursery and PreK campers should also come with a rest mat that’s easy to store and clean. Any child who needs swim pull-ups should also come with those to meet your mateys day!

If your camper has medication that they will need throughout the summer, you may bring medication as well but make sure it’s clearly labeled with their name and group. Drop off all medication in the Health Center (located on the Field Side of the Multi Porpoise Building) where it will be safely held and administered all summer.

Q: I want to sign my child up for swim lessons, can I do that at Meet Your Mateys Day?

A: Yes! You can sign up for before or after camp swim lessons under the Main Tent. Spots are running out quickly so make sure to do that as soon as you can!

Q: Where should we park?

We are still finalizing parking, so keep your eyes open for an email that will be sent out as we get closer!

Q: Will snacks be provided?

There will be individually wrapped snacks available at The Galley for you to pick up while you’re here. We won’t have a set “snack time” so if you’re hungry feel free to grab a complimentary snack!

Q: Will Meet Your Mateys Day be held rain or shine?

Yes!  We will host this event in rain or shine- activities or locations will be altered due to inclement weather if necessary.

Q: Are masks required to attend Meet Your Mateys Day?

Masks do not need to be worn for any outdoor activities or meetings.  If you or your child is unvaccinated, you will need to wear a mask indoors.  If you feel more comfortable, you may wear a mask at any time.

Q: What should I do to get ready for Meet Your Mateys Day?

A: All forms should be completed and submitted for your camper prior to Meet Your Mateys Day. Check your Camp In Touch account to make sure you are up to date. The office will be open all day, so you can drop off any forms as well!

Meet your Matey’s day is the first taste of camp for the summer, and we’re counting down the days until we get to welcome everyone back! If you have any other questions about the day feel free to email us at camp@rollingriver.com .
